Sinopse:

Ah, todas essas pessoas com sotaque delicioso! Esse é o melhor documentário sobre cinema que vejo em muito tempo, não só pela qualidade da narração, mas pelo conteúdo informativo que beira o excesso, é muita coisa e muita coisa boa.
Há muitas pessoas dando depoimentos, atores (Humphries, Lee Curtis, Lazenby, Rod Taylor, Jack Thompson, Roger Ward, Railsback, Susannah York, Keach, Hopper, Jarratt, etc), dublês (Grant Page), diretores (Trenchard-Smith, Franklin, Kotcheff, Mulcahy, Mora, etc), produtores (Ginnane, Brennan, Hannay, Lamond, etc), e fãs… é lógico que a porra do Tarantino está aí dando a sua opinião, o desgraçado é o maior arroz de festa nesses documentários sobre cinema off-qualquer-coisa. Peraí, ele é arroz de festa em mainstream também, enfim, o homem não sabe manter a boca fechada, o que a gente até agradece na maioria das vezes, aqui a contribuição do nerd-mor-apaixonado é substancial e acaba por explicar o porquê do seu Death Proof se parecer muito mais com um grindhouse australiano do que com um americano. Outro “fã” cineasta cujo depoimento é de enorme relevância para entender o seu próprio cinema é o de Greg Mclean e que na verdade é mais do que mero fã, mas sim o filho legítimo dessa geração ozploitation dos anos 70/80 que o influenciou da espinha ao dedo do pé, ou alguém acha que o John Jarratt está sempre alí à toa?
O mais bacana de tudo é que este é o último momento em cinema do Richard Franklin, que morreu de câncer pouco tempo depois de gravar o seu depoimento para o filme, logo ele que foi tão importante dentro da saga ozploitation. Outros bons momentos foram as aparições do George Lazenby e do Rod Taylor, Lazenby me impressionou por continuar bonitão, embora o único Lazenby que importe é o lutador de kung fu com moustache, mas quem ganhou na loteria foi mesmo o Taylor que deve ter cruzado com o Tarantino em algum corredor e assim ganhou um papel em Inglourious Basterds, o que é uma maravilha, pois há um tempo desgraçado que não o via em lugar algum.
O doc ainda realça algo quase impossível de negar: o cinema exploitation australiano é o mais biruta de todos, não tem americano, italiano, espanhol, alemão e a puta que pariu que se equipare a esses caras, não estou dizendo que é melhor, só que é o mais insano. Um fator essencial para essa afirmação é o fato de até hoje boa parte dos maiores dublês do mundo serem australianos, aquele povo já nasce biruta, eles fazem coisas que nenhum dublê normal faria, a não ser os orientais em geral, o que me inclina a dizer que existe alguma coisa errada é com a água do Oceano Pacífico e não com populações em específico. Grant Page que o diga, ele é rei absoluto.
